Ready or Return: Before the door closes💫
🌿 Memory Verse
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in…~Revelation 3:20
One speaks about being ready. The other speaks about returning.
As you read, take your time to reflect and also go back to the Scriptures yourself. There is always more depth when you encounter the Word personally.

Jesus tells a story about ten virgins who were waiting for the bridegroom to arrive. Five of them were wise and brought extra oil for their lamps, while the other five were foolish and did not prepare well. As the bridegroom delayed, they all became tired and fell asleep. Then at midnight, there was a sudden cry announcing that the bridegroom had come. Everyone woke up to prepare, but the foolish ones realized their lamps were going out because they had no extra oil. They tried to borrow from the wise, but it was not possible. So they left to go and buy oil.
While they were gone, the bridegroom arrived. The wise virgins, who were ready, went in with him, and the door was shut. When the others returned, they knocked, but it was too late.
This parable is a call to readiness. It shows that not everyone who is waiting is truly prepared. The oil represents something personal—your relationship with God, your faith, your spiritual life. It is not something that can be borrowed or transferred from someone else. Each person must have it for themselves. The delay of the bridegroom reminds us that Jesus may not come when we expect. Life may continue as normal, and people may become relaxed or distracted. But suddenly, the moment will come. The most serious part is that the door was shut. There comes a point where preparation is no longer possible. Opportunity will not always be there.
This is why Jesus tells us to watch and be ready. Not just to know about Him, but to truly live in readiness every day.

Jesus tells a story about a young man who asked his father for his share of the inheritance while his father was still alive. He then left home and traveled to a distant place, where he wasted everything he had on reckless living. After some time, a famine came, and he found himself in great need. He ended up feeding pigs and was so hungry that he even desired the food they were eating. At that point, he came to his senses. He remembered his father’s house and decided to return, not as a son, but as a servant.
But while he was still far off, his father saw him, ran to him, embraced him, and welcomed him back with joy. Instead of punishment, he received restoration, love, and acceptance.
This parable reveals the heart of God. Even when we walk away, make wrong choices, or lose our way, God is always willing to receive us back. The son thought he had lost his position, but the father restored him completely. This shows that God’s grace is greater than our mistakes. However, the turning point came when the son decided to return. He did not stay where he was. He got up and went back.
This reminds us that no matter how far we have gone, it is never too late to come back to God. His arms are open, ready to receive us.
